The 9th edition of CRUZEIRO/NEWMARC Intellectual Property's Newsletter begins with two good news for Brazil; the European Community granted the first patent letter to a genuinely Brazilian medicine. Aché Pharmaceutical Laboratory has the grant to produce and commercialize a medicine developed by Medtopic, a company in the field of molecular biotechnology. China has also granted the first patent to a medicine developed in Brazil, which prevents epilepsy attack, developed by the Brazilian doctor Luiz Eugênio de Araújo Mello, Pro-Rector of graduation of Unifesp- Universidade Federal de São Paulo (São Paulo Federal University).

Brazil in the European Community

European Community grants the first patent letter to a genuinely Brazilian medicine. The Pharmaceutical Laboratory Aché has the grant to produce and commercialize a medicine developed by Medtopic, a company in the field of molecular biotechnology development.
