To deal with the guarantee of a name or trademark domain on the Internet is the subject of the article available in this month’s newsletter by Wilson Silveira, director of Cruzeiro/Newmarc.

The speed in trademark and patent granting is another subject dealt with in this newsletter. The reader will learn the difference between the time necessary to register a patent in Brazil and the same patent in India.

The reader will also learn about the unfolding of the Madrid Protocol; how the theme is being approached in Brazil and the world, and what entrepreneurs think and the specialists say.

Piracy does not even overlook church symbols. Now, the new crown of Our Lady who Appeared, the Patroness Saint of Brazil, is in the sights of the counterfeiters. In this edition you will learn what has been happening in the Administration of the Basilica of Our Lady.

In this 6th edition, the reader will learn about "The Trademark Commandments", created by participants from the Brand Protection Seminar, and the on-line services that Cruzeiro/Newmarc make available for their clients.

Happing Reading!

Artists and Pirates

With technological advances, hackers and pirates have amplified their areas of operation. In the same way that it has become easier to obtain a domain on the internet, it has also become easier for those who wish to take advantage of illegality to make money. This is what the article from Wilson Silveira, associate director of Cruzeiro/Newmarc, deals with.

Patents – rapid granting

The time consumed in registering a trademark or patent in Brazil is from 6 to 8 years. This same trademark or patent takes up to 6 months to be registered in India at the most. Why the difference?

The Madrid Protocol

This subject continues to generate discussion among entrepreneurs, the government, specialists in Intellectual Property and lawyers. Brazil still has not adhered to the Protocol, but pressure has mounted in this direction.

Divine Piracy

The administration of the National Basilica of Our Lady, responsible for products related to the patroness saint of Brazil, is studying the most efficient form of impeding the new crown of Our Lady who Appeared from being pirated. Not even the church is outside of this war.

The Trademark Commandments

These are the 18 Trademark Commandments suggested by the speakers from the Brand Protection Seminar held in the April of this year. They make their message with good humor but also without losing focus from reality.
